Shanahan University is a privately owned university that is located within the city of Onitsha, Anambra State.
Shanahan University is part of a Catholic university that is located across Nigeria. The institution is named after Bishop Joseph Shanahan, who was a major champion of education in the Southeastern Region during the colonial administration of Nigeria.
Shanahan University was an idea that was formed and envisioned in 2002 by Archbishop Valerian Okeke, but this was not made manifest until 2020, when the foundation stone was laid before the university was granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2023, hence confirming the university’s academic activities operation.
When the university was granted approval in 2023, it began academic activities in 2024, and it held its first matriculation ceremony in 2025 with over 400 students matriculated.
The university has expanded since then, including adding top-quality courses like medicine and surgery, law, anatomy, physiology, and English language to some of the courses that are being offered at the institution.
Shanahan University is currently being operated on its temporary site, which is located in the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Mission Road, Onitsha. The permanent site is to be situated at Shanahan University Avenue, Trans-Nkisi Layout, Onitsha.

° Proceed to pay your acceptance fee if you are a new student or go to the fee section to generate an invoice if you are a returning student.
° Proceed with the payment on the school portal.
° After payment, generate a receipt and proceed to the bursary department for verification.
NOTE:
° Installmental payment of school fees is allowed in the ratio of 50% in the first semester and 50% in the second semester and the second option of 40%, 30%, and 30% at the beginning of the 1st and 2nd semesters.
° School fees are not refundable.
° Beginning in 2026/2027, the best student from each department will be given a free scholarship for one academic year.
