NDLEA Shortlisting Timeline
NDLEA The shortlisting process usually follows a structured timeline, and this is to allow transparency and fairness across all states in Nigeria and also to make sure that qualified candidates are shortlisted.
The first is that the applicant submit their application online on the official NDLEA portal, then the application is reviewed by NDLEA in order to ensure that the documents and requirements are met; if the candidates meet the qualifications and requirements, the candidate is then shortlisted.
Shortlisted candidates are then processed and added together in a file format; this then is uploaded online through the NDLEA portal, where applicants can check whether they are shortlisted.
When the process of shortlisting is not announced to the public, but when the shortlisted list is out, the publication will be made by NDLEA through their official channels like their website or social media handle.
For the 2025/2026 NDLEA recruitment, the shortlisted candidate will be notified through email or through the official NDLEA channel to know when screening will commence.
How to check if you were shortlisted
You can’t be screened unless you are shortlisted, and that is why we will show the steps to check if you are shortlisted, and the steps are:
● Go to the NDLEA portal at https://drugandvisa.ndlea.gov.ng/.
● Scroll to the shortlisted candidates 2025/2026 section.
● Then click on state of origin to download the PDF list. Make sure that you click on your own state of origin because the list is mostly long, and that is why it is classified state by state.
● Open the PDF file and carefully search for your name, search, and search again because you might miss this.
● The PDF will be saved automatically, especially if you use a PDF viewer to see it.
Note: There will be many phishing sites, and that is why you should only use the official channel or link, and if your name appears on the shortlist, then the next step is screening.
Screening Requirements and Eligibility
Shortlisted candidates are not fully employed yet, but it is a pass into the next step, which is physical screening, which is to decide whether you are fit for the job, and there are some requirements and documents you need to have, and there are
● For Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, the applicant must possess at least a B.Sc./HND + NYSC discharge or exemption letter.
● Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics: The narcotics applicant must possess a DVM or related.
● Applicant must be within the age range of 20–35 years and a maximum of 40 years for those who want to apply as doctors.
● Chief Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 7) applicants must possess NCE or Registered Nurse/Pharmacy/Lab/Dental Tech.
● Senior Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 6): Applicant must possess a National Diploma (ND).
● Narcotic Agent (CONPASS 5) Applicant must possess 5 credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB, including English & Maths.
● Applicant For Assistant I (CONPASS 4) must possess 4 credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB incl. English or Maths.
● Applicant for Assistant II (CONPASS 3) must possess 3 credits in SSCE/GCE/NABTEB, including English or math.
● Applicant who applies as Artisans/Mechanics/Cleaners/Gardeners/Drivers: SSCE or Trade Test Grade II
● Applicants who apply for the driver’s position must have a valid driver’s license.
● Applicants who apply for the articulated driver role can apply at the maximum age of up to 40 years for articulated drivers.
● Applicant must be Nigerian by birth and must possess a valid NIN.
● Applicant must be medically fit, drug-free, and have no criminal record.
● A male applicant’s height must be 1.65 m. above, while women must be 1.60 m and above.
● Applicant must have a valid Passport photo

Screening Location
The screenings are usually conducted across all states in Nigeria in the NDLEA branch offices, which are called narcotics offices.
The screening location will be sent to the applicant at the due date by the agency, and it is expected that the applicant go to the assigned screening center for them. Going to the wrong location or screening center will lead to automatic disqualification.
